What I Wore | Horseshoe Cable Knit Dress
I’m so excited for my most recent thrifty find: This Dakini horseshoe cable dress for just $5.88. I have never found a sweater dress to be flattering before, but this one has raglan sleeves, a wide cowl, and just enough flounce to offset my broad shoulders. The horseshoe cable pattern is arranged in such a way to make me look… dare I say… curvy? I even lucked out to find a dress in taupe, which if my living room wall tells you anything, is my favorite “color.” I know I will be getting many, many wears out of this one.
I paired the dress with Merona Premium black tights ($10, Target) and Blowfish boots ($42, 6pm.com). I frequently refer to brands in my What I Wore posts just to illustrate the cost savings between buying new and secondhand.
This post is the exception. My black tights are three years old! They are the only pair I wear, and they have even been through a few roller derby practices. These cost more than double the cheaper brands available at Target, but I have saved so much money after initially splurging on this more expensive pair.
Thrifted is my first choice for shoes, but Blowfish is my second. I don’t like to purchase new leather but I also don’t like chintzy shoes that fall apart. Blowfish shoes are neither leather nor chintzy. Despite having a moderate heel I can wear these ankle boots for an entire day teaching and not hate myself afterwards.
That brings my outfit total to $58.00. A little more steep than usual but not bad, considering the tights and boots have a minuscule cost per wear.
