Weekend Charmer Tutorial: Part Two
Thanks for coming back for the second installment of my Weekend Charmer tutorial. Today we are sewing the blocks together. You can find the cutting instructions here.
I will use a 1/4″ seam allowance throughout.
Let’s get started!
Now that each component is ready we can assemble the blocks. The quilt is made from 25 identical blocks (pictured at the top of this post) with a pinwheel design created by rotating every other block. More on that tomorrow when we assemble the quilt top.
Refer back to the finished block when determining where to place the red rectangle. The red rectangle should be in the upper right hand and lower left hand corner. When you are sewing the blocks together you will notice that the seam allowances face towards you while you are feeding them through your machine.
Once again, press seams away from the background square unit.
You should have 25 finished blocks which, right now, will measure 8.5″.
Tomorrow we will twist and turn the blocks while assembling the top to create a bright pinwheel design.
