I am visiting my parents today to help prepare for my brother’s high school graduation party. I borrowed my mom’s quilt model to show off my newly completed quilt top.
Mom’s dog, Gracie, is trained to pose on quilts. If a quilt is laid out on the floor or over a chair she will strike a pose until you take a picture. No blog post is complete on Jo’s Country Junction without a Gracie photo op.
This quilt is one I told you about earlier. I collect vintage sheets for quilts but my collection is mostly white. To create a colorful quilt top I fussy cut the flowers very close to the outline. Now I have a fun floral quilt with bright pops of color.
I still need to “quilt” the quilt. I hope to be back soon to show you a finished project.
On my way to my parent’s house I drove through the Amish community near Hazelton, Iowa. I stopped at my favorite discount grocery shop and found many great deals including Dunkin’ Donuts coffee for $5 and a variety of dried beans for $.35. Spencer’s favorite granola bars were just $1 per box.
I am afraid that this isn’t going to be one of the super fun visits that I usually report on. Mom is catering the meal for my brother’s party and is expecting 150 people. It will be a productive visit, but not likely to involve quilting and thrifting.
I will be away until Monday! Hopefully I can squeeze some time in for blogging between now and then. Right now I have a to-do list calling my name.
Enjoy your weekend!
