This and that…
Hi there! I am up at my parents for a few days hanging out with my family. Yesterday we went shopping near Fairbank, Iowa to the dented-can grocery store. I found some great deals including 25-cent Luna bars, $1 boxes of Total raisin bran, and $.65 cans of Progesso soup.
We also went to the Big Event at Country Threads in Garner, Iowa. The Big Event is their summer party and is always a lot of fun. Country Threads is Mom’s and Kelli’s favorite quilt shop but I always love to tag along.
Mary, one of the shop owners, has the BEST landscaping EVER! She has a great collection of succulent plants that she puts in the most creative containers and arrangements.
Today we had a sewing day with breaks for dog petting, pinterest-ing, and birdcage veil making.
I sewed my Texas Braid quilt on Mom’s cute little featherweight machine. It is far enough along that I can see how pretty it would be finished so I plod along. I blogged about it long long ago and it has made little progress since then.
The topic of choice at meals has been the drought. Some corn fields are drying up. Dad says this year is the driest he has seen since 1988. There is only a 50% chance of rain in the next week, so everyone is pretty antsy.
I am happy to have so much to do but sad that my summer is flying away so quickly!
