The Magical Fruit Shouldn’t Be Mysterious

  1. I grew up in a “southern” family so beans were a around a lot. I hated them when I was younger since they were usually very bland. So I always stayed away from making them myself.

Then we had to tighten up our spending and I started trying out beans with lots of spices and extras thrown in. Now my whole family loves them and I love how cheap they are! It’s the one meal that my husband consistently requests.

Also, LOVE the new layout. Looks very nice. :)

I just found your web or rather my daughter found it. She thought I might like it because I am thrifty! And she was right! I do like it! I also like those dimples! Keep blogging! I’m 66 and learning lots from your blog! I must say this though. When you are young and pretty like you, you look good in whatever you put on whether it’s from GoodWill or Banana Republic!

As I read through the end of the article I was appalled that this lady had been gifted 10 bags of a fantastic, cheap protein and hadn’t been to the library to google pinto bean recipes and ideas! So good to know I wasn’t the only one who had this thought at the forefront of her mind. Here from almost frugal–I think you’ve found a new reader :)

perhaps the woman in the article has finally become rich. . she was poor before. . . poor on knowledge and skillz
now she can learn to make meatless chili!

I cook beans a lot and I usually don’t soak them at all; they come out just fine. Although I have to admit that if I think of soaking them and drain that water away, they are a bit less gassy. :)

[…] 1 can of black beans for $.89 (even cheaper if you cooked your own beans) […]
