Look beyond frugal food blogs for frugal recipes
If you are looking for frugal recipes, the most obvious action is to Google search “Frugal Recipes.” However, depending on your goal, you may consider alternate sources. I’ve listed a few of my favorite blogs for you to peruse next time you you want to cook up something new.
When there’s “nothing” to eat:
Check out emergency preparedness blogs. The notion of storing several years worth of food has become more popular with new television shows like “Doomsday Preppers.” Recipes from preparedness blogs will be made from all pantry-stable ingredients. They will likely be inexpensive because cheap staples like rice and pasta have a long shelf life.
My favorite Prepper blogs: Salt n’ Prepper
When you’re out of eggs:
My favorite Allergen-Free blog: Simply Sugar and Gluten Free
Also look on vegan blogs. People who follow a vegan diet eat no animal products which means no milk, eggs, butter etc.
My favorite vegan blog: Post Punk Kitchen
When your neighbor gives you weird vegetables you don’t recognize:
My favorite sustainability blog: Whole Foods on a Budget
Ok, so that’s technically a frugal blog. Another favorite is Treehugger.
