Irish Crochet Wedding Bolero
I am taking a break from my Jacob’s Ladder blocks today to enjoy some crochet.
I was poking around on Ravelry and found a beautiful crocheted shrug. Instead of a pattern, the link came to a tutorial site. The site offers several layout designs but requires you to find your own motifs.
Enter my new favorite site, The Antique Pattern Library Catalog. It is a fantastic resource of PDF copies of antique crochet patterns. I am using this pattern to make motifs for the shrug and this pattern to embellish the edges.
I think an Irish crochet bolero would be a great way to add personality to a simple wedding dress, and make a beautiful family heirloom.
I catch a lot of flack for not being married for Spencer yet, especially with all of my friends getting married. It’s true, we have been together for nearly 5 years. But I say, why rush forever?
November 16th (our dating anniversary) is on a Friday next year and a Saturday the next year. I think that gives us two great options. And it also gives me at least a year to finish this masterpiece!
