I’m Freezin’ Me Buns
November 4 and still no heat in my apartment!
I am taking the Freeze Yer Buns Challenge from Crunchy Chicken. The trick is to hold out as long as possible before turning on heaters, and then to keep them at a low level.
Our new apartment is flanked by another apartment on each side, which helps with insulation. Last weekend we put plastic up on all of our windows.
I am not cold in my house yet. I just put on a fleece jacket over whatever I am wearing. I love wearing my hooded sweatshirt, so I am not suffering. I always wear shoes in the house so no big change there.
Spencer will be turning on the heat in the guest room this weekend to accommodate our guest, Mel. I lived with Mel and his wife, Molly, last winter and they did a great job at keeping me toasty! We will return the favor.
We have thermostats to heat each room in our home. We plan on closing off the guest room and office nook for the winter and heating the bedroom, kitchen, and living areas. The bathroom has a shower heater that we will turn on as needed. The ‘stats will be kept at a solid 60. (Maybe more for company.)
Neither my parents or I had heat in the bedrooms of our homes growing up so I am channeling my tough-farm-girl attitude for this challenge.
I hate fake air. I like hot summers and cold winters. My only challenge is getting out of bed in the morning- it is hard to leave my cozy feather ticks for the cold.
So… are you in? Comment here or visit Crunchy Chicken. There is also a Facebook group for this challenge.
