Goodwill Score: Bodum French Press Coffee Maker
Long, long ago I wrote a post about the long term cost of purchasing items on credit.
When I was in college I took out the whole federal student loan that was offered to me. In hindsight I wish I had picked up a few more shifts. The purchases I “needed” are being paid for now and accumulating 6.8% interest.
In my long-ago post my students and I calculated how much a cup of coffee purchased our freshman year of college would cost when we were paying back our student loans. The result was nearly double the original cost.
Definitely go check out the post, as it was very enlightening. That was what encouraged me to cut up my one and only $500-limit credit card. I just couldn’t bear the thought of interest anymore.
This post, however, is not about interest. It is about my Goodwill score!
<This is the picture of the Bodum French press coffee maker that I featured in the post.
I love the idea of a French press but couldn’t justify the purchase because I already have a drip machine.
BUT…
The last time I was at Goodwill I found the exact. same. one. from the blog post! It was only $5 so I snapped it up!
I also bought 12 ft of grapevine that I will use for wedding decor.
What are your recent Goodwill/Thrift scores?
Love Goodwill, Salvation Army, and other thrift stores. It sure helps the budget when you can get items for less than retail. Saving up to buy things for cash also helps reduce credit card shock.
