After a week of photo-less posts I have prepared an overload for you by giving you a tour of my apartment.
I do not like themed rooms. I like white walls and antiques. My decorating style is simply displaying what I have and organizing it in a new way.
Antiques are a great investment but are hard to afford. I do makeshift arranges until I find the perfect piece at a great price.
We would really like a bookshelf but only have a small shelf right now. My books have wandered around my apartment and can be found in several places.
My vintage sewing books are arranged across my treadle sewing machine. I used a jar of shirt buttons and a notions box as bookends. I hope for this to be a very temporary arrangement as I look forward to restoring my machine to working order.
I mixed vintage classics with my newer cookbooks in my kitchen. These are flanked by my Ipod radio and books of similar scale.
Another way I “decorate” is simply grouping like-items together.
Blankets hang over an old ladder in the living room.
Spoons and rubber scrapers are in wire top canning jars on my kitchen counter. This also frees up drawer space for less attractive kitchen items.
So… there is the grand tour!
What low-cost strategies can you offer for “decorating” your home?
