It was a gorgeous day on campus today…
Perfect weather to wear my “new” skirt!
Of course I did not actually buy something new. This skirt is made from a pair of dress khakis that I initially purchased at my all-time favorite thrift shop, the Depot. I got a little wrapped up in the “oh-my-goodness-khakis-for-only-$2″ and did not realize until later that they were actually a little too short, or that the crotch was a little too saggy. My solution? New skirt!
The process was very simple. I ripped out the inside leg seams and up to the zipper in front, and up to the curve of the bottom in back. I sewed two straight seams, hemmed the bottom, and I was finished.
The only hint of my skirt’s previous life is the not-so-matching stitching. But overall, I’m pleased with the result.
