Forks and Vinyl Blinds for Visualizing Garden Layouts
Yesterday I mentioned that I have been using repurposed vinyl blinds as plant markers. Today I used them to outline my future garden.
We are having our foundation dug to finish our basement waterproofing project. It’s a good thing, too, because it means I have to wait at least two weeks (when the digging is done) before I can plant anything. This is helping to curb any impulse purchases.
To get a better visual of the layout, and to calculate how many plants I will need, I used vinyl blinds and forks to mark a border. The blinds are 4′ long which makes for easy measuring. I just weave them between the tines of the fork.
I have cycled through tons of “great ideas.” Currently I’m planning on a mass planting of Annabelle hydrangeas that I will fill in with my existing hostas. I love the look of cottage gardens but am afraid I would make it look like a mess.
Have you have good luck with hydrangeas? Any tips to share?
