I am putting together a quicky quilt-along for this weekend. Quick for you, that is. I am planning ahead because my control-freak self would never settle on a quilt pattern that was not tested first. I’m very boring and un-spontaneous like that.
So here’s the plan…
Makes perfect sense, huh?
This quilt will be baby-size, measuring 42″ square. To make the top you will need:
- One-half yard background fabric (I will use solid gray)
- One-half yard dark or contrast fabric (I will use red)
- 50 charm squares
A note on those charm squares: GRRRR!!!
I’m getting the cutting ready for Friday afternoon’s post and apparently not all charms are five inches? Some squares include the pinked edges in the measurements. Some measure five inches, plus the pinked edges. And for some reason I have a whole pile of charms that are 5″ x 4.5″. I only destroyed two charms before figuring that one out. Just warning you!
If you are diving into your scrap stash for the charms don’t bother cutting them into 5″ first. Save yourself some time and cut the charms into the pieces you will need: 100 2.5″X4.5″ pieces.
Cutting instructions will be posted Friday afternoon, block instructions on Saturday morning, and assembly instructions on Sunday. By Monday you will have a top ready to quilt!
Or, you can wait ’til Monday to start just to make sure the pattern turns out right. My control-freak self will totally understand.
