Fall Garden Update
The temperature dropped to 34 F last night which means my time in the garden is winding down. I love all of the Iowa seasons but I look forward to fall the most.
I have my garlic planted and hope to harvest it next July. I am growing Inchelium Red and Czech Broadleaf. Both are softneck varieties that I want to braid with.
As you can see, my promiscuous pumpkins have taken over my garden.
Each of these pumpkins came from the same “sugar pumpkin” plant. Seems like they were sneaking around with my summer squash!
My zinnias are still going strong. I didn’t plant these until July which is why I can still enjoy them this late in the season. The blooms seem to keep longer in the cool weather.
They make a cheery arrangement for my kitchen and match my curtains.
Back in June I purchased a set of 25 African violet leaves and they are finally producing leaflets.
I’m already planning my garden for next year! Spencer says my garden can’t go past the garage but also taught me to use the tiller (muah ha ha!).
