Fair Week Results
Although I loved the county fair as a 4-Her my fair project excitement has lapsed. This year was my first year bringing projects to the fair as an “adult.” It is a goal I have had for awhile.
My brushed cotton quilt won first place in the Machine pieced/Machine quilted category:
Isn’t it funny that they had a category for recycled quilts? Isn’t the point of quilting to use up scraps and found fabrics? This is one of my favorite projects ever. Although very colorful the quilt is actually made from white sheets. I cut very close to the flowers to “make” colors.
I was pleasantly surprised to receive $29 in premiums. Certainly not enough to have “made” money but worth the work to tack some tags to already-finished projects.
I have made the goal to win a grand champion ribbon next year. I will have to step up the difficulty of the projects. Some ideas I have include a crocheted tablecloth, a fair isle baby sweater, or a pair of cabled socks.
What projects are you most proud of that you have completed in the last year?
