Thanks for sharing the article, I found your site on Stumble! WIC is really ridiculous, especially because they give their participants $20 a year to go and buy fresh fruit and veggies at the farmers market, so they can white potatoes anyway, so them not allowing it on the monthly vouchers is silly!

Best way to combat grocery prices is to eat less. Many of us have a few (or more) extra pounds to lose, but we eat and eat and eat without thinking. We eat while watching TV, doing homework, checking the internet, when we are bored, etc. We aren’t even hungry; we just eat because we can. I save a fortune by not buying unnecessary food like junk. If I don’t have it, I won’t eat it. I save thousands each year, which I use to invest in brokerage firms.

Here in Australia potatoes are very expensive, compared to the US – about $2 per kilogram (a kilo is 2 pounds), so a 2kg bag costs about $4 unless you shop around to find them a lot cheaper. So an all potato diet would not really be a lot cheaper here!

Why whine about any Free Food you are given. Be a little grateful.
