My friend Lori took notice of my lunches and has asked for bean and whole grain recipes. Longtime readers know that I am not much of a recipe follower. Instead I use a lot of ratios and formulas to accomodate whatever is in my pantry.
Some “recipes” I’ve shared in the past include:
- Balanced Lunch Bowls: My formula for grain+beans+vegetables=Week of lunches
- Plain Ol’ Beans
- Basic Rice and Beans: My go-to “Dave Ramsey” meal
- Vegi Soup Mix: My frugal slow cooker version of a Bob’s Red Mill favorite.
- Slow-Cooker Vegetarian Split Pea Soup: My college-kid food of choice. This post also features links to my favorite clean-eating blogs.
We received a pressure cooker (Thanks, Maryetta!) as a wedding gift and have been making big batches of beans every weekend. I use this chart for cook times of various beans.
My blog doesn’t even begin to show the variety of bean dishes I enjoy on a regular basis. I will work on posting them more often!
What are your favorite bean recipes to share with Lori?

Where are you Kayla? I’ve been following this blog for a couple of years and you’ve totally disappeared! It’s sad! You used to post at least once a week but now your fiance becomes your husband without so much as a wedding pic? Or an article about budget weddings? It’s frustrating. I keep coming here for posts and hardly ever see them. It’s really difficult to be a reader when the content is cut out.
