Apartment Garden Progress
My little patio garden is finally yielding results! The drought here in Iowa has been rough on my produce. My laziness in watering hasn’t been helpful either!
The first thing I picked from my garden was this little roma tomato. My vine beans in the background have made a lovely cover for my privacy fence, although a bug attack rendered them useless.
I am always so amazed at the difference between backyard produce and grocery store produce. This summer squash was absolutely perfect! The outside was not squishy at all. In fact it was almost hard to chop. The pasta dish that I attempted with it= not so great.
I have a lot more grape tomatoes on their way. I am looking for the perfect recipe to use my (one) red pepper and (one) banana pepper.
Impressive! I’m trying to figure out what to do with the squash. I honestly didn’t expect it to flourish, so now I’m not sure how to use it,
Looks like a great start! My summer squash is coming on pretty strong, picking several every other day … one zucchini so far .. and one cherry tomoato which came froma volunteer. The tomoatoes I planted haven’t produced yet .. but they do have green tomatoes on them…
Isn’t it fun! We’ve had vegie stirfry with the squash and purchased broccoli and carrots, onions and of course green peppers from the garden.
So nice that you are already reaping so much from your garden. I would love to create one myself. Please post more stories and tips as well.
