Apartment Dwellers Can Enjoy Air Dried Laundry
Iowa heat is good for one thing: drying clothes!
The humidity doesn’t help much..
Spencer and I enjoy line-dried laundry and were sad to leave our clothesline behind. Luckily, our apartment has a back patio where we plan to set up a large drying rack like this one that my mom has. Laundry didn’t wait for me to purchase the rack, so I made do in the meantime.
I gathered every last hanger in my home and hung it across my back swing. So far, it is working great! Spencer likes to hang his shirts so I can move them directly from the “clothesline” into the house. His heavy workpants dry best over a regular hanger. I use the skirt hangers for towels, socks, and such.
Little things like this get me on a thrifty kick, so I pulled out my Tightwad Gazette (affiliate link) to keep rolling. One reader suggested putting up a large chain and inserting hangers within the links.
I also turned the water heater down to 120 degrees and put a rubber band (scrounged from a head of broccoli) around my handsoap pumps.
Still on a roll!
